As one of the most popular categories of sex toys, vibrators come in a huge variety of shapes, sizes and purposes.

With so many vibrators to choose from, there are plenty of specific recommendations available, but this guide will provide some all-around advice that applies to most vibrators you have in your drawer.

Use the right kind of lubrication

Since many vibrators can be used externally, on areas of the body which don’t self-lubricate, it’s important to pick the right kind of lube for your play session. Using lubricant decreases friction between the toy and your skin, which in turn increases your ability to thrust, slide and tease your toy on your body.

“The more lubed up you and the toy is, the easier it is (at least for me) to find that 'sweet' spot where my clitoris likes it most.” - laluz

The kind of lubricant you can use depends on the material your toy is made from. Plastic vibrators can be used with silicone-based, oil-based or water-based lubricant, but silicone, rubber and realistic feel (TPE or TPR) vibrators should only be used with water-based lube, as other lubes may degrade the material.

Figure out the settings first

Some vibrators are as easy to adjust as twisting a dial but others, like rabbit vibrators, tend to be more complicated. To make sure your vibrator always behaves how you expect it to during your play session, take a few moments to explore its controls first.

“These different settings enable her to change things up, and often when she's near to climax she will change the setting, which will then finish her off and entice a huge orgasm, which has her shaking.” - His Point Of View

It can be incredibly arousing to put a vibrator through its paces while you imagine it doing its thing against your clitoris or G-spot. Once you’re confident that you’re in control, get down to business and enjoy yourself.

Share it with a partner

While app control and remote control vibrators inspire sharing with a loved one, even the smallest bullet vibrator can become a huge turn-on when you use it together. If your partner’s interested in using vibrators together, they can add exciting new thrills to foreplay or sex and also help you discover pleasure points you may not have realised you had.

“I have also held it against the end of my husband’s penis and watched him orgasm almost as fast as I did.” - lovepuff14

Why not give your partner first pick from your top three vibes and add their choice of toy to your next play session together? You can use it on yourself while they watch, pass the controls to them or even see how much pleasure you can deliver by using it on them.
