Position of the Week: Head Over Heels

A naked illustrated couple, one is sat in a chair and the other is straddling them and leaning back.

Are you ready, you lustful lot? This week, things are about to get acrobatic with an inverted take on the Cowgirl position. It’s sure to leave you feeling head over heels – and probably a little giddy!

How?

This one's adventurous, so start with the giver seated on a sturdy, armless chair or firm sofa. If you’re the receiver, straddle your partner face-to-face, sliding onto their shaft until penetration feels good and comfortable.

Lean your upper body slightly backwards – you may need the giver to help support your weight by holding your upper arms or torso.

Now comes the tricky part: You’ll need plenty of flexibility and core strength to get in position – and avoid falling off the chair! Slowly move your calves up onto your lover’s shoulders, continuously leaning back until your head comes to rest against their legs.

Expert tip: If you’ve both got vulvas, this position is perfect for trying a double-ended dildo. The extra flexibility and length of the toy will come in handy – much easier to get into position than with a strap-on (or a real penis)!

Toys to feel head over heels

Why?

Being upside down sends blood flowing to the head, which can feel like an exciting rush (so long as you’re not there too long). The straddling partner feels more exposed and stretched out, creating an intriguing sense of tension and vulnerability.

Meanwhile, the seated partner gets an excellent view of the receiver’s whole body, with plenty of room to play with a clitoral suction toy like the new Womanizer Peach Toy. The giver won’t be able to thrust vigorously here so, instead, they're encouraged to sensually caress their lover’s pleasure points while grinding.

Clitoris or not, the giver can tease an erogenous zone within reach while the straddler flops gratefully back against them...

Make it even easier

If this (admittedly tricky) position is too much, you can adjust it. Try it on a recliner-style chair to avoid supporting a partner on your legs – or even moving the whole thing from a chair to a bed.

On a bed, the receiver will still straddle their partner and lean back as far as possible while maintaining penetration. If you can make it all the way back, lie flat and enjoy the sensation of shallow penetration while playing with the penis or clitoris.

If you are playing in a chair, be careful not to let anyone stay upside down for too long. After a minute or two in this position, help the receiver sit back up (slowly). You can keep riding in a seated Cowgirl position, enjoying the heady sensation.

Make it even better

If you’re the giver, this is your chance to tease your lover’s clitoris and get them moaning with blended pleasure. While your penis (or dildo) presses against their G-spot from within, rub small circles on around their clit – it'll feel even better with lube.

Try pressing a clitoral suction toy, like the Womanizer Peach, against the clit and alternating between light and intense suction modes. The Peach toy is small enough to nestle between you during regular Cowgirl as well, so you can keep playing even when the inversion gets too much.

Make it even kinkier

If you’re the giver, you’ll have your partner’s feet right up by your face, so why not make that part of the fun? The seated partner can kiss, lick, massage, or worship the straddler’s feet during penetration.

You could incorporate scented oils, toe-sucking, or even light tickling with a feather or tongue. Whether it’s a foot fetish fantasy or just a new layer of intimacy, this is the position to explore it.
