Position of the Week: Grip It Good

A naked illustrated couple on a bed. One is lying on the bed holding onto a headboard and the other is lying on top of them.

Hold on tight everyone – it's Grip It Good. A variation of the classic Missionary sex position, Grip it Good offers deep penetration and precise G-spot or P-spot stimulation. Whether you use a strap-on or you’re naturally endowed, hold each other close and feel every delicious movement.

How?

The receiving partner lies back with their legs apart, while the giving partner crawls between their lover’s legs in a kneeling plank position. Just like Missionary, you’re now face-to-face and ready to ease into penetration.

The reclining partner then wraps their legs around the giving partner’s waist, holding them tightly behind their back. When you’re nicely entwined, the receiving partner can also grip the headboard with both hands.

While the giving partner starts to thrust, the receiver can raise their hips and tighten their grip on the headboard to explore deeper penetration.

Why?

It feels super intimate to have your lover’s legs wrapped around you as you thrust. This position heightens skin-to-skin contact and allows the giver to feel every twitch of their lover’s muscles as they journey to climax.

With the receiver's hips held high, you get deeper penetration and more G-spot stimulation. Plus, they can raise or lower their hips to work out which sensations they like best.

Gripping the headboard also changes up the angle and lets the giving partner enjoy the gorgeous view of their lover’s chest and neck as they writhe with pleasure.

Try

Rather than gripping the headboard, you could introduce some handcuffs or an under-the-mattress restraints to keep those wrists bound in place. Add a blindfold to tease the reclining partner with a little sensory deprivation.

If you’re not quite ready for bondage, take advantage of being face-to-face. Whisper sweet nothings or filthy words to each other as you maintain eye contact and enjoy the intensity. Our tip? Ask your partner if there’s anything they want you to call them during sex. Before you play, find out where their boundaries lie and what dirty words excite them.

Make it even easier

If the reclining partner’s legs are getting tired, they can try resting their feet on the bed and resume the Missionary position. Or, add a pillow under their hips to ease the strain.

The giving partner might find it easier to rest on their forearms rather than maintaining the kneeling plank at all times. As always, make sure you have plenty of lube to keep things slick and smooth.

Make it even better

Grip It Good brings you close together for deep P-spot or G-spot penetration. We love how intimate penetration can feel, but it’s not always possible for people to orgasm from this alone.

Why not turn up the pleasure even further? Provided they’re not cuffed to the bed, the receiving partner can tease a wand or bullet vibe over their nipples. clitoris, penis, or balls. Or the giving partner can do the honours before they get into position, building excitement and getting their partner good and ready for penetration.

If you have a penis, use a vibrating cock ring to stimulate your shaft and testicles (and potentially keep you hard for longer). If the reclining partner has a vulva, try a vibrating rabbit cock ring for extra clit play.

Enhance this position

Not the position for you?

We're working to make sure that everyone is represented on our website, regardless of who you love, so we'll be using a variety of gender depictions in our Position of the Week posts. This will include straight, gay, lesbian, and gender neutral couples, but all positions will have details in the description of how to make them work for your own relationship dynamic.
